Dear Dr. Dodes,
I have been struggling with alcohol addiction for appx.13 years and have finally started seeing a therapist. I do have a lot of issues I have had to work through such as physical/emotional abuse, abandonment, promiscuity and others. I know my drinking is related to these. I had managed to stop drinking for 43 days but then I had a few slips recently one of which my therapist is aware of. AFter the last slip, I knew I needed to become better educated in addiction and figure out how I can become more active in my treatment. I purchased your book and read it in one day. It is a revelation that I'm going to share with my therapist at our next session. I don't know yet what my alternatives are when issues arise, but your book has provided me the "hope" that was slipping away just a few days ago. Thank you.
